Description

Position Summary

To assist the Head/Assistant Womens Basketball Coach in all facets of the program with the emphasis on teaching coaching and mentoring team members relative to sport specific skill as well as administrative tasks. NCAA II rules and regulations individual and team development concepts as well as life skills education. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Head Coach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists the head/assistant coach to coach and operate theprogram at practices games and administrative tasks
  • Educates and mentors student athletes in all aspects of their holistic development; mind body and spirit.
  • Assists in the coordination of travel arrangements and meals for road trips.
  • Practice setup/teardown and execution
  • Game day operation and tasks
  • Filming/making video clips as needed
  • Camps
  • Laundry
  • Social Media
  • Assists in completion and processing of paperwork as requested.
  • Works cooperatively with personnel in the athletic department attends department meetings and activities if needed and always represents the University in a positive manner when interacting with the community alumni coaches the media and the general public.
  • Responsible for abiding by NCAA II compliance rules and legislation as well as educating student-athletes about those rules.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Head/Assistant Coach and/or the Vice President/Director of Athletics.
  • Failure to comply by NCAA II rules will be grounds for discipline and/or termination.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities)

Must understand and support the Mission Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae and possess the following:

Education: Bachelors degree required as well as acceptance into a Walsh University Graduate Program.

Work Experience: At least 3 years experience in the sport of Womens Basketball including playing and/or coaching. Other significant experience relative to coaching and/or the administration of an intercollegiate athletics program can be considered.

Skills and abilities:

Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students staff and faculty. Positive attitude a must.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
  • Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels indoor and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend to stoop to sit on the floor to climb stairs to walk and to reach overhead.
  • Must be able to handle and communicate over loud noises in gymnasium; whistles crowd noise; yelling and screaming.
