Job Description

The Opportunity

The Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering (GSBmE) at UNSW is looking for a motivated Technical Officer/Senior Technical Officer to support its new undergraduate degree. In this role you will bring your experience to play a central role in the design delivery and management of our teaching laboratories. Youll work closely with academic staff to bring learning to life support innovative lab-based education and help empower students with the tools they need to thrive in their careers. An understanding of laboratory resources logistics and the scale needed to deliver student focused practical classes is highly desirable for this opportunity.

As a Technical Officer / Senior Technical Officer you will play a key role in the efficient day-to-day management of the Schools teaching and research equipment infrastructure and services. Youll identify and provide expert technical support for research and teaching needs oversee the commissioning and maintenance of specialised equipment and manage user access and training.

Additionally you will drive WHS compliance implement safety initiatives and work alongside the HSE Advisor and Laboratory Manager to develop policies that maintain a secure and efficient lab environment. Beyond technical oversight you will play a role in staffing and budget resource planning contributing to the optimisation of teaching operations.

This role reports to the GSBmE Laboratory Manager and has 1-4 direct reports.

  • Salary - Broadbanded Level 6/7: $100354 to $119132 per annum 17% superannuation
  • Full time
  • Fixed term 2 years
  • Location: Kensington Sydney Australia
  • Onsite role 5 days per week
