Position Overview:
The Early Childhood Behavioral Support Specialist serves as a district-wide support specialist focused on improving behavioral outcomes and classroom climate across all Fayetteville Public Schools Pre-K sites. This individual will work closely with Pre-K director teachers paraprofessionals and students to implement effective developmentally appropriate behavior interventions rooted in Conscious Discipline. The role includes delivering professional development modeling strategies in classrooms and coaching staff to build strong supportive learning environments for young children. Key Responsibilities: Provide on-site coaching and behavioral support to Pre-K teachers and staff across all six district Pre-K sites. Lead professional development sessions on Conscious Discipline trauma-informed practices and proactive classroom management strategies. Collaborate with families and school staff to develop individualized behavior plans and support strategies for students demonstrating challenging behaviors. Model effective early childhood instructional practices that support positive behavior. Analyze behavioral data to guide interventions monitor progress and adjust support as needed. Serve as a liaison between school sites families and the Pre-K Director regarding behavioral needs and interventions. Support the implementation of classroom structures that promote a safe and nurturing learning environment. Assist with transition planning for students moving from Pre-K into Kindergarten particularly those requiring continued behavioral support. Maintain accurate documentation of coaching visits interventions and progress monitoring. Qualifications: Valid Arkansas teaching license with certification in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K). Minimum of 3 years of successful experience teaching in a Pre-K or early childhood setting. Demonstrated expertise in Conscious Discipline with training or certification preferred. Experience in behavior intervention classroom coaching or instructional leadership in early learning environments. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Ability to travel between Pre-K sites throughout the district regularly. Preferred Skills: Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus. Experience conducting family meetings or working with caregivers to support student development. Familiarity with Arkansas Better Chance (ABC) Pre-K guidelines and CLASS observation tool.
