Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistant


We are seeking an energetic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will provide support to students with special educational needs ensuring their educational and social development. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills patience and a genuine passion for helping students reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Support the classroom teacher in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help students with personal care and mobility if required.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other professionals to support student development.

Requirements

Requirements:
  • Relevant experience working with students with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience and empathy towards students with diverse learning needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Understanding of special educational needs and inclusive education practices.
  • Relevant qualifications in special education or related field (desirable).

Experience working with children or young people with Autism A patient, empathetic, and adaptable nature A good understanding of SEN and strategies to support ASD Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Education

NVQ Level 2 or above in Childcare or Health & Social Care Prior experience as an LSA, nursery nurse, or SEN support worker Psychology, education, or therapy graduates seeking practical experience
