The Floating Operator will play a crucial role in supporting operations at the Recycling division in Clinton MD by managing and configuring various types of equipment. This position entails ensuring that machinery operates at optimal capacity overseeing heavy equipment and conducting preventative maintenance checks.
The operator will be responsible for handling heavy machinery such as skid steers loaders excavators and backhoes to facilitate the loading and movement of materials like sand gravel and aggregate. Additionally routine maintenance tasks will be performed to keep the equipment in excellent working condition including cleaning lubricating and conducting inspections.
The operator will also transport materials within the quarry assist with site preparation for construction projects and ensure compliance with safety regulations including MSHA standards while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Field of Study Preferred: N/A
- Required Work Experience: Experience operating heavy equipment including but not limited to skid steers loaders excavators and backhoes.
- Travel Requirements: 25%-50% of the time
- Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and performing routine maintenance on equipment.
- Ability to work in harsh outdoor conditions including heat cold dust and varying weather.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to pass a 7-year criminal background check including felonies and misdemeanors.
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen as required for the role.
- Good physical condition to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials as well as stand bend and work in physically demanding environments.
- Basic understanding of quarry operations and material handling processes (loading unloading and transporting aggregates).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team taking direction from supervisors and collaborating with coworkers.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and supervisors
