Job Description

Roster: 6D/6D/6RnR Day Shift Only
Shift Hours: 12 Hours
Hourly Rate: $52 per hour Super
Employment Type: Fixed-term 6 month contract

About the Role
As our MC Driver Trainer youll play a pivotal role in building capability across our MC driver workforce. From onboarding and assessments to coaching and compliance youll help ensure every driver meets Newhauls standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver & Manage Driver Training
- Run end-to-end MC driver training from pre-employment onboarding to annual reassessments.
- Facilitate practical assessments simulations and safety drills.
- Support driver induction probation and ongoing compliance.
Lead a Team of Internal Trainers
- Mentor experienced MC Drivers undertaking training duties.
- Ensure consistency and alignment across all training activities.
- Coordinate training based on operational needs.
Analyse Driver Performance & Close Skill Gaps
- Use driver performance data incident reports and supervisor input to identify training needs.
- Maintain an up-to-date competency register and development plans.
- Support high-potential drivers and retrain where needed.
Ensure Compliance & System Accuracy
- Keep accurate training records and upload results into Litmos and HR systems.
- Ensure all training aligns with WHS standards and internal policies.
- Support WHS audits and compliance reviews as required.
Drive Continuous Improvement
- Update training content to reflect regulatory and operational changes.
- Collaborate with WHS HR and Recruitment to streamline onboarding and probation processes.
Qualifications :
- Proven track record with at least 5 years experience as a Multi-Combination (road train) driver.
- Formal qualifications or substantial experience in training and assessing commercial vehicle drivers.
- Hold a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116) or be willing to obtain itwith Newhauls full support.
- Hands-on experience mentoring drivers and conducting practical assessments within logistics mining or bulk transport industries.
- In-depth knowledge of Work Health & Safety (WHS) fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) regulations.
- Proficient with digital training management systems such as Litmos SharePoint and comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite to track progress and maintain accurate records.
- Strong skills in designing managing and delivering structured training programs that meet compliance and operational standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead motivate and support a team of peer trainers.
- Excellent communication skills with a knack for scheduling follow-up and stakeholder engagement.
