Hours: .40 FTE
Shifts: Days
Status: Temporary Part-Time (Approx. 8 months)
Closing Date: June 13 2025
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides assessment and treatment for adult oncology patients with communication and swallowing disorders. The primary focus will be on the Non Head & Neck Cancer population in an out-patient setting.
Qualifications :
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
- Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
- 2 years experience in an acute care hospital preferred
- Experience in conducting Videofluroscopy preferred
- Experience in outpatient oncology preferred
- Experience in the assessment and treatment of Oncology patients preferred
- Recognizes and acts within the scope of practice of a speech-language pathologist
- Understanding of health care teams and how the skills and competencies of all members contribute toward patient management
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Commitment to self-directed/life long learning and evidence based practice
- Flexibility and ability to prioritize and to deal with changes in tasks with short notice
- Ability to function in an independent self-directed manner and to exercise sound judgement
- Ability to function in a stressful environment while maintaining professional demeanor
- Compliance with legislation outlined in Regulation of Health Professions Act (1991)
- Compliance with departmental and hospital safety emergency and infection control procedures
- Computer literacy preferred
- Experience in development implementation and monitoring of quality indicators preferred
