Job Description

For over 20 years this full-service low-voltage contractor has been designing installing and supporting state-of-the-art structured cabling systems access control systems intrusion alarm systems camera surveillance systems unified communications systems and audio/visual solutions. With a reputation for quality and reliability theyve become a trusted name in the industry for commercial healthcare education and industrial clients.

Position Overview
Were looking for a Cable Technician 2 to join our team and support structured cabling and low-voltage system installations across a variety of commercial job sites. This position requires hands-on proficiency with copper and fiber installations including splicing and rack building as well as the ability to troubleshoot and test system integrity.

Tech 2s are skilled experienced installers who execute high-quality work while also helping guide Tech 1s in the field. While not responsible for managing labor like a lead youre seen as a mentor by junior techs and are expected to set the standard on job sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run and dress structured cabling (Cat5e Cat6 Cat6a) per job specs
  • Terminate RJ45s at the patch panel using punch-down tools
  • Perform copper testing and documentation
  • Splice fiber including mechanical splicing
  • Build out ladder racks IDFs and MDFs
  • Label trace and verify cable connectivity using tone and volt meters
  • Install access control security CCTV paging and A/V field devices
  • Read and follow blueprints wiring diagrams and scope documents
  • Work safely on ladders lifts and around active customers in schools hospitals and commercial sites
  • Provide informal leadership and guidance to Tech 1s on site
  • Support field teams with subcontracted national service work
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in structured cabling and low-voltage systems
  • High proficiency in copper and fiber installs splicing and closet builds
  • Experience in schools hospitals and occupied commercial environments
  • Strong understanding of patch panel terminations labeling and connectivity testing
  • Ability to work independently communicate clearly and represent the company professionally
  • Reliable transportation and a valid drivers license with a clean driving record
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred
  • Comfortable working at heights and lifting/moving equipment
  • Solid team player who sets the tone for others through accountability and craftsmanship
