Summary:
OutYouth a successful Austin non-profit with 35 years of history of supporting LGBTQIA individuals seeks a full-time Director of Finance. This position is key to ensuring OutYouths financial health and sustainability.
The Director of Finance will oversee all aspects of financial management including budgeting reporting compliance and strategy. They will support the Executive Director and Board of Directors by providing transparent financial insights and guiding the organizations long-term financial planning.
This role requires expertise in nonprofit financial management accuracy strategic thinking and a commitment to OutYouths mission.
The Director of Finance will define the process and implement the infrastructure/systems needed to support substantial growth over the next five to ten years. As a senior management team member the director will be involved in strategic planning evaluation and professional development initiatives.
Compensation: $80000 annually or commensurate with experience

Work Hours:
- Typical work hours are Monday through Friday 9 AM to 5 PM. A final schedule will be determined in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Some evening and weekend hours are required.
- This position is hybrid with the ability to work remotely.

Essential Functions:
Financial Strategy and Oversight
- Develop and manage the organizations annual operating budget in collaboration with leadership.
- Advise the Executive Director and Board of Directors on financial planning forecasting and sustainability.
- Oversee budgeting financial forecasting and cash flow for administration existing programs and proposed new sites.
- Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial reporting materials and metrics for OutYouths board of directors.
- Ensure the organization maintains strong internal controls and financial policies in alignment with nonprofit best practices.
- Lead financial planning for strategic initiatives grants and fundraising campaigns.
- Advise the Executive Director on the organizations financial budgeting and administrative processes to continuously develop and improve systems.
Accounting and Compliance:
- Oversee all bookkeeping and accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable payroll and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and nonprofit regulations.
- Maintain clean organized and audit-ready financial records.
- Manage preparation for annual audits IRS 990 filings and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Coordinate all audit activities.
Grants and Fund Management:
- Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds in accordance with donor requirements.
- Prepare detailed financial reports for grant proposals and funding agencies.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure budgets align with programmatic goals and outcomes.
Team and Organizational Support:
- Supervise finance-related contractors or staff as applicable.
- Manage and retain support staff as needed in the future.
- Support cross-departmental collaboration to ensure fiscal responsibility and financial literacy within the organization.
- Contribute to leadership discussions and strategic planning as a key senior management team member.

- Proficient in QuickBooks or similar accounting software; QuickBooks Online preferred.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs Sheets Drive etc.).
- Familiarity with CRM or donor databases is a plus.
- Comfort with using technology for collaboration and reporting.
- Flexible and a self-starter; able to multitask while also being highly detail-oriented.
- Extreme tact and discretion attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Management or related field.
- Minimum of five to eight years of professional experience including at least 5 years of experience in nonprofit financial management or related roles.
- Experience managing the finance and administration of a growing organization (preference given to nonprofit expertise).
- Experience should include legal audit compliance budget and resource development.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting standards fund accounting and grant compliance.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Masters degree (MA/MBA) or CPA preferred.

- Indoor climate-controlled office environment.

- Work is performed while standing sitting and/or walking.
- Frequent computer use at workstations for extended periods of time.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Must pass a criminal and motor vehicle violations background check.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
