Job Description

Driver / Warehouse Operative Preston 26000
42.75 hours/week Monday-Friday (Temporary to Permanent)

The Company:
My client operates a regional food redistribution centre in Lancashire and Cumbria redistributing surplus food to local communities and charities in need. They also deliver structured programmes that support individuals facing barriers such as homelessness mental illness and long-term unemployment.

The Role:
This role involves distributing surplus food to local community groups and charities across Lancashire and Cumbria. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with an approachable nature supporting warehouse operations as well as driving and delivering food.

As a driver you will collect food from food partners and deliver to community groups often being a regular point of contact with both partners and recipients. Occasionally you may be accompanied by volunteers to support deliveries.

As a warehouse operative you will assist in incoming goods handling storage and dispatch working collaboratively with the warehouse team and volunteers to ensure operations meet food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver food to community members and collect donations from food partners.

  • Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently.

  • Maintain accurate records of delivery times temperatures and signatures.

  • Build and manage positive relationships with food partners and community groups.

  • Work as part of a team using initiative and minimal supervision.

  • Contribute to operational improvements and help implement new processes.

  • Any other tasks needed to support the smooth running of the centre

Person Specification Essential:

  • Team player with a positive collaborative attitude.

  • Willingness to learn and develop warehouse skills.

  • Proactive organised and able to prioritise workloads.

  • Comfortable performing physical tasks including lifting and loading.

  • Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office.

  • Confident working independently and using own initiative.

  • Full UK driving licence (3 years preferred) and a focus on excellent driving behaviours.

  • Flexible approachable and committed to building strong relationships.

Desirable:

  • Forklift licence.

  • Level 2 or 3 Food Safety Certificate.
