DESCRIPTION
The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) Air Operations section is recruiting for the position of Lead Helicopter Crew Chief. The Lead Helicopter Crew Chief is a full-time special assignment.ONLYapplications from current and qualified OCFA Crew Chiefs (Fire Captain) will be considered.
Your applicationMUST include all current relevant OCFA work experience to be considered for this position. Failure to include your OCFA work experience along with any other related qualifying experience in the work history section of your application will result in disqualification from the selection process.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The Lead Helicopter Crew Chief position shall work a 4/10 work schedule.
ADDITIONAL PAY:
Employees regularly assigned in the position of Lead Helicopter Crew Chief will be compensated eighteen (18) percent of their base salary per month prorated on an hourly basis including overtime hours worked as the Lead Helicopter Crew Chief as well as seven and one-half percent (7.5%) Staff Assignment Pay (SAP) and/or ten percent (10%) Staff Incentive Pay (SIP).
Note: if the employee was receiving paramedic pay at the time of assignment to the position of Lead Helicopter Crew Chief the employee may not continue receiving paramedic pay in lieu of the 10% SIP.
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:- Recruitment Closes Wednesday June 11 2025 at noon (12:00 pm)
- Oral Interviews Week of June 23 2025
- Selection Notifications: Week of June 30 2025

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Current and qualified OCFAHelicopter Crew Chief (Fire Captain)
- 3 years of experience as an OCFA HelicopterCrew Chief at close of this recruitment
- Air Operations Specialist within the OCFA helicopter aviation program as outlined in the MOU
HIGHLY DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS- Helicopter Manager (HMGB and/or HCWN)
- Helibase Manager (HEMB) Qualification
- Helicopter Coordinator (HLCO) Qualification
- Air Support Group Supervisor (ASGS) Qualification
- Air Operations Branch Director (AOBD) Qualification
