The Role

Are you passionate about the marine environment and ready to make an impact on global infrastructure GHD Advisory is seeking a Marine Cable Consents Specialist to join our growing team of environmental professionals. In this pivotal role youll support the delivery of expert consulting services focused on subsea cable permitting and broader marine environmental impact assessments.

This is a dynamic project delivery position where youll collaborate closely with senior specialists and multidisciplinary teams ensuring environmental compliance and contributing to the success of high-profile offshore infrastructure projects. As a key player in our advisory team youll also help expand our presence in the marine consents space by contributing to strategic proposals and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and permitting activities for subsea cable projects acting as Project Manager where appropriate.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise to internal teams and clients including pre-application guidance and strategic permitting advice.
  • Engage with stakeholders regulatory bodies and industry groups to advocate best practices and represent GHD at key meetings and events.
  • Develop and contribute to environmental and social due diligence projects and impact assessments across various offshore sectors.
  • Support business growth by participating in bid development proposal writing and proactive client engagement.
  • Prepare clear concise and high-quality reports recommendations and presentations tailored to client and project needs.
  • Collaborate across technical groups within GHD to share knowledge align best practices and drive innovation in marine permitting solutions.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • A Bachelors degree (or higher) in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in marine environmental consulting with a strong focus on subsea cable permitting.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering EIAs and consents for offshore projects ideally including international subsea cable or offshore wind projects.
  • Deep understanding of UK marine environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Familiarity with environmental and social risk management frameworks such as IFC Performance Standards or Equator Principles is a plus.
  • Proven ability to communicate and influence effectively both in writing and in person with regulators clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong technical writing data analysis and project management capabilities.
  • Enthusiasm for working on diverse complex projects in a collaborative environment.

Working Location

This is a hybrid role with an expectation of an average of 2 days per week working at one of our offices in London Manchester Chester Guildford or Newcastle.
