Responsibilities
Performs a variety of routine tasks to support the delivery of safe effective cost-efficient patient care as delegated by the RN. They provide assistance in transporting transferring and lifting. They perform cleaning Functions in patient care unit as delegated and perform selected diagnostic tests
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff
- Monitors and records vital signs
- Assists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs
- Accurately measures records and reports intake and output
- Obtains and records daily weight
- Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter
- Reports changes in patients status promptly to RN
- Performs as patient care companion when needed
- Assists in the admission transfer and discharge process
- Performs unit housekeeping needs
- Acts as a runner/transporter
- Checks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated reporting variances to appropriate personnel
- Updates assigned bed status
- Maintains a safe environment by responding to all bed alarms call lights telephones and alerting the correct person
- Keeps patient environment clean Performs comfort rounds keeps hallways clear of obstruction no food or drink at the workstation reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately and adheres to patient safety precautions
- Communicates with patients family physicians and unit personnel and peers in an accurate courteous and professional manner
- Acts as receptionist for the unit; has limited use of the hospital information systems according to hospital policy dependent on the need of the unit. This can include but not limited to: consulting in EPIC navigate through EPIC discharge patients put milestones into tele tracking maintain paper charts and checking on MD orders
- Removes saline locks
- Order floor stock and puts it away
- Perform 12 lead EKGs where unit allows
- Other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications
Required Education:
- High School Diploma GED or SRNA
Required Licensure and Certifications:
- BLS via the American Heart Association
Required Minimum Knowledge Skills Abilities and Training:
- One (1) year direct patient care experience
