JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess at least 60 credit hours or substitute certificate
- Complete all board approved background checks
- Background in instrumental music education
- K-12 Music certification
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Event Planning and Participation
- Attend all assigned events
- Conduct Rehearsals auditions and supervise Marching Band performances
- Overseeing all members of the Marching Band
- Supervise sectional rehearsals
- Keep student attendance records.
- Supervise student rehearsals performances (home games) and trips
- Marching Band Performances include:
- Home Football games
- 2-4 Community parades
- Other community performances
- Organize plan and run Jazz Band rehearsals and performances
- Plan organize and lead after school rehearsals
- Plan organize and lead Concerts and other school performances (2-4 per year)
- Participate in All District Band events when applicable (every 3 years min)
- Encourage and participate in extra playing opportunities
- Solo/ensemble (once per year)
- All Suburban Auditions (once per year)
- E Des Lee Honor Band(once per year)
- Other opportunities when applicable
- Maintain activities that promote school spirit
- Develop materials and attend pep rally when requested
Communication
- Recruit
- Work with middle school directors and feeder schools to help with recruitment and retention
- Hold parent meetings
- Manage and distribute schedules to students and parents
- Maintain parental contact.
- Meet with AD as needed to discuss program needs
Budget and Equipment
- Maintain stock of supplies (Reeds valve oil etc)
- Track budget and make purchase orders for needed supplies and equipment
- Track and manage equipment/instrument rental and repair
- If needed distribute instruments and keep documentation by inventory or fine cards
- Plan and receive administrative approval for fundraisers
Administrative
- Follows all state league federation building and District guidelines procedures and policies.
- If needed ensure all in and out of district travel forms are complete
- Uphold at least the minimum requirement for the school district and governing bodies expectations for students participation in the activity. Examples include: Grades code of conduct attendance etc)
- Follow the Student expectation Code
