JOB SUMMARY:
Design and instruct curriculum in all academic areas to meet the needs of a diverse class of elementary students. Provide instruction in both English and Spanish.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge Skills Abilities: Knowledge of: specific curriculum content for subject area. Skilled in: lesson plan development implementation of learning activities behavior management assessment and teaching to individual student skill levels. Ability to: communicate orally and in writing and build relationships with students parents and staff. Ability to communicate with Spanish speaking students and parents preferred. Preference given to candidates with successful experience in teaching Spanish and desire to create a powerful dual language program. Ability to co-teach; ability tocollaboratively across middle school and elementary Dual Language PLCs; trained in GLAD orConstructive Meaning strategies. Ability to do some curriculum mapping during summer.
Experience: Experience preferred but not required.
Education: Completion of a higher education bachelors degree or masters degree in education/teaching.
Certification Required: A valid teaching license issued by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission for middle school with science endorsement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Language Skills: Ability to read English and comprehend complex technical language. Ability to write memoranda correspondence lesson plans reports and student achievement summaries in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations. Bilingual preferred.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions in English. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Must possess a thorough knowledge of science and incorporate writing skills as well astechniques needed to teach those skills effectively in both languages. Knowledge ofappropriate practices for teaching multilingual students. Have the desire and skills needed to workclosely and collaboratively with other middle school science teachers as part of aprofessional learning community. Willing to help develop and support the Dual Language program at the middle school. Ability to implement effective teaching practices with strongclassroom management skills. Data driven with project based learning strategies. Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers supervisor(s) staff students parents and community.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk and may be continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee may be required to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods of time.

Works in a school environment. Able to use a telephone operate a computer and use other office equipment. Able to drive to other program sites and meetings.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year in accordance with negotiated agreement between licensed teachers and the district.

Full time Probationary Edwards Elementary School.

Work Hours:
8 hours per day; Contract days and start date TBD based on upcoming licensed contract negotiations of 2025-2026 contract.
