Course Details
Asian Language & Literature: Development of skills required to conduct academic discussions in oral as well as in written forms. Teaching materials include original texts from Chinese newspapers Chinese literature and videos.
Salary (current rate for 3-credit course teaching): $11090
Salary (rate for 3-credit course teaching as of September 1st 2025): $11479
This is a 3-credit course. It is the Fall 2025 section 001 of course EAST 530-D1. The position is only for the Fall 2025 academic term.
Position Summary
a) preparation of the Course and Course plan;
b) delivery of the Course;
c) evaluation of students;
d) submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades;
e) supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff;
f) upon request review of their students grades;
g) meeting with students being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements;
Employees shall perform their duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and as specified in the administrative directives of the Hiring Unit.
An Employee shall use appropriate pedagogical methods and material.
Teaching Qualification Requirements
Education:
M.A. in Linguistics applied Linguistics and/or foreign language education.
Experience
Teaching Chinese as an instructor at the college level as well as interest in upper-level instruction in translation.
Other
Must be able to teach Chinese language at the introductory level and possess native or near-native fluency in Chinese with an excellent command of English. This course may be co-taught.
