Responsible for unit dose distribution including familiarity with medications dosage forms and storage requirements. Will also compound sterile and non-sterile medication preparations. Communicates with pharmacists and nursing staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of medications. Delivers medications including controlled substances to nursing areas and ancillary departments in accordance with established policies and procedures and DEA and DPH regulations.Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities:
automated dispensing machines (ADSs) and floor stock medications. Follows relevant Epic workflows including but not limited to loading medications dispensing doses dispense tracking and fulfilling cart fill items.
all medication in compliance with all DEA DPH & State Board of Pharmacy regulations
and delivers IV medications in accordance with Federal USP 797 & USP 800 standards. Maintains records pertaining to IV admixtures maintains cleanliness in sterile areas and completes relevant Quality Assurance processes.
non-sterile products and repackages bulk supplies of medications in unit of use packaging in accordance with all Federal USP 795 & USP 800 standards.
for expired medications within the pharmacy & automated dispensing cabinets. Ensures that all expired/damaged medications are disposed of in accordance with RCRA OSHA & NIOSH regulations.
in the continued training of and provides mentorship to students and pharmacy technicians
specialized sterile and/or non-sterile products including TPNs neonatal hazardous and chemotherapeutic & study medications in accordance with Federal USP 797 USP 795 and USP 800 standards.
workflow efficiencies and works with the Technician III staff and Lead technicians to help implement new practices
staffing in two or more areas of the pharmacy
Required Qualifications:
School diploma or GED required.
Mass Registered Pharmacy Tech required. and Certificate 1 Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Certificate 2 EXCPT required.
must remain in good standing with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy including maintenance of registration and fees.
4.1-3 years related work experience required.
with computer systems required including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint or Access.
Preferred Qualifications:
1.3-6 months experience as a hospital pharmacy technician.
to perform simple and complex pharmaceutical calculations.
with medications: generic and trade names methods of administration and conversion between metric and apothecary systems
