Desirable Qualifications
Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity equity and inclusion into all areas of responsibility; Recent experience working with African American Asian/Pacific Islander Latinx Native American and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes; Willingness to examine and remediate ones instructional relational and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students; Related work and professional experience; Experience working with students of various cultural gender age socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds including disabled students; Knowledge of and acceptance of becoming certified in the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) Lincoln Electric LEEPS Program; Skills equivalent to a certified welder in the following areas: SMAW GMAW GTAW FCAW in the flat horizontal vertical and overhead positions with mild steel aluminum and stainless steel; Hold at least one AWS API 1104 and/or an ASME Section IX certification; Hold a CWI (Certified Welding Inspectors) credential; Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office programs like Word Excel and Power Point; Expected to learn and utilize the Districts learning management system for classes as well as grading and attendance; Knowledge and experience with the welding certification program; Experience teaching at the community college level; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff; and Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals.
Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom; and Bachelors degree and two (2) years of full-time equivalent professional experience; or Associate degree and six (6) years of full-time equivalent professional experience; or A valid California Community College Credential; or The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
