Dakota County Technical College is seeking a Biology Science Lab Assistant/Tutor to provide tutoring and academic support services (including one-on-one and group instruction) for students enrolled in biological science or related courses. The Biology Science Lab Assistant/Tutor will serve as the Chemical Hygiene Officer and provide overall science lab management.
Responsibilities include:
Provide tutoring and academic support services to DCTC students enrolled in biological science or related courses.
Manage the daily operation of the Science lab.
Serve as the Chemical Hygiene Officer.
Maintain records and documentation for data collection and grant reporting.
Participate in staff meetings training opportunities and student success programs and other duties as assigned.

Salary Range:
We would like to clarify that the correct salary range for the College Laboratory Assistant 2 - Biology Science Lab Assistant/Tutor position is $21.57 - $30.13/Hour and $45038 - $62911/Year. We encourage you to reach out to our office if you have any questions.
Minimum Qualifications (Resume must reflect all minimum qualifications to be considered.)
Associate or higher degree in Biological Sciences; AND
One (1) academic year of teaching/tutoring experience in Biological Sciences at the high school level or above OR
An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualification
Advanced knowledge of Biological Sciences/Natural Sciences curriculum sufficient to instruct and assist students.
Knowledge of college policies and programs sufficient to answer a wide range of questions.
Organizational skills sufficient to maintain files and documentation for Perkins grant.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and faculty through discussions and short demonstrations.
Ability to motivate students to perform assignments and persist in their studies.
Ability to teach skills in a manner readily understood and applied by students including those who may have cognitive challenges.
Physical Requirements
Maintain a stationary position for a prolonged period of the day.
