We are looking for an HPC Systems Engineer to manage the full lifecycle of our high-performance compute infrastructure. This includes machine acquisition installation configuration and ongoing maintenance in a complex on-premise environment. Youll work closely with facilities vendors and internal teams to ensure systems are highly available and optimized for performance. A strong automation mindset and experience with Ansible are key to success in this role.
Oversee end-to-end hardware lifecycle: acquisition setup configuration and decommissioning.
Monitor and maintain system health and performance across a large fleet of Linux-based servers.
Collaborate with facilities teams to support power cooling and rack integration requirements.
Work directly with vendors for procurement RMA and support escalation.
Automate provisioning patching and configuration workflows using Ansible and related tools.
Implement system monitoring and alerting to proactively identify and resolve issues.
Assist users with environment-related issues and performance concerns.
Maintain documentation for system design procedures and automation.
Required:
3 years of Linux system administration experience in an HPC or data center environment.
Must be a High School Graduate or possess an equivalent certification.
Hands-on experience with physical system deployment and troubleshooting.
Strong performance tuning and hardware diagnostics skills.
Proficiency with automation tools especially Ansible.
Solid scripting ability (e.g. Bash Python) and familiarity with Git.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
Experience with workload schedulers (Slurm PBS etc.).
Familiarity with high-speed networking (e.g. InfiniBand).
Exposure to GPU compute nodes.
Understanding of large-scale system monitoring and asset tracking.
