Job Description

Purpose Statement:
The job of Assistant Network Administrator is to ensure the stable operation of the Casa Grande
Elementary School District 4 network infrastructure. This includes developing configuring maintaining
supporting and optimizing all new and existing network hardware software and communication links.
This position will also ensure the stability and integrity of voice data video security and wireless
network services.


This job reports to the Network Administrator.


Essential Functions:

  • Attends meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information
  • required to perform functions.
  • Receives prioritizes and responds to incoming work orders telephone calls and/or emails
  • regarding equipment and/or connectivity problems.
  • Defines and controls access privileges roles and group membership of the user community for the purpose of controlling and monitoring security of district information systems.
  • Develops implements and maintains policies procedures and associated training plans for
  • network administration usage cyber security incident response and disaster recovery.
  • Conducts testing and development of cyber security incident response plans and disaster recovery plans to detect faults minimize malfunctions and backup systems as it relates to network functionality.
  • Provides escalation support to other department staff in relation to complicated desktop network telephony or software application issues for the purpose of providing efficient problem resolution.
  • Provides support of network systems and infrastructure (e.g. cabling electronics/hardware backup/restore functionality software applications and resolutions of network operational issues) for the purpose of maximizing availability of network systems.
  • Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to network configuration network mapping network operational processes and service records.
  • Monitors network performance and troubleshoots problem areas as needed to identify and remedy network performance bottlenecks.
  • Ensure network connectivity of all servers workstations telephony equipment printing and
  • copy machines and other network appliances.
  • Performs on-site analysis diagnosis and resolution of complex network problems for a variety of end users and recommends and implements corrective solutions.
  • Manages planning and maintenance of network cabling including MDF and IDF closets. Participates in managing all network security solutions.

Other Functions:

Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work.

Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: Skills Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills
in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the
functions of the job include: preparing and maintaining accurate records; planning and managing
projects; operating standard office equipment; and utilizing pertinent software applications.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly
technical information write technical materials and/or speak persuasively to implement desired
actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge
required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes:
Proven experience and success with enterprise-level LAN WAN and WLAN engineering
design and implementation.
Proven ability to engineer routers switches and access points.
Proven experience with network capacity planning network security principles and
general network management best practices.
Excellent technical knowledge of current network hardware protocols and Internet
standards.
Strong knowledge of network management and analysis tools.
Working technical knowledge of VoIP telephony.
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

Knowledge understanding and ability to create and maintain thorough technical
documentation

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities meetings and/or events; routinely gather
collate and/or classify data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is
required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but
different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required
to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of
types of job-related equipment. In working with others problem solving is required to identify
issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on
organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant.
Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: meeting
deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working with constant interruptions; maintaining
confidentiality; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; working with
detailed information/data; and ability to read write and communicate clearly in English.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods;
leading guiding and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of
resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions.

Working Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical
demands: occasional lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some
stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job
requires 25% sitting 25% walking and 50% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature
variations and a generally hazard free environment. In addition expect occasional evening and weekend
work to meet deadlines and on-call availability for emergency issues.

Experience and Education:

  • Associates Degree in Information Systems or related field.
  • 3 years of work experience in network administration.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate certification preferred

Required Certificates and Licenses

  • Criminal Justice/fingerprint clearance card

This is a 12-month School Year position.
