Magic City Campus is looking for a motivated individual to work at the Cross Roads Program at Minot State with transition students. A majority of the day will be spent job coaching students at various worksites throughout Minot.
SUMMARY
Under basic supervision coaches special education students who require assistance in the transitionfrom school to independent living in the adult world and work; assists students with vocational lifestyleand community interaction issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Provides transition support assistance for Special Education (SE) students to transition from school toindependent living in the outside world; assists SE clients with problem solving behavior regulationand identifying/accepting natural consequences; assists with hygiene and medication management.
Assists SE students to learn independent living skills and job skills; coaches SE students to developsocialization community interaction and vocational skills; drives students to and from work sites.
Monitors student behavior and discusses with supervisor to improve student case management.
Supports the relationship between the Minot Public School District and the general public bydemonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients visitors and Districtstaff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues client records and District information;follows compliance rules governing child abuse; performs related duties as required or assigned.
Education Training and Experience Guidelines
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND one year of experience working with Special Educationstudents; OR an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Knowledge of:
MPS policies and procedures.
Methods and techniques for working with students with intellectual disabilities and special needs.
Safety rules and regulations.
Skill in:
Assisting special needs students and understanding special training needs.
Following verbal and written instructions.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid North Dakota State Drivers License is required. Specific First Aid training courses are required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in classrooms and at work sites and requires working with children; may be requiredto physically restrain students if they are at risk of hurting themselves or others.
This position is subject to veterans preference.
