Position Summary: The Associate Teacher is responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher with classroom operations and providing instructional support to students. This role includes helping develop learning materials under the guidance of the Lead Teacher tracking student progress and supporting student behavior. The Associate Teacher may assume full classroom responsibilities in the teachers absence. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication classroom management and organizational skills in collaboration with the Lead Teacher to impact student growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Complete Addalingua Level 1 2 and 3 training.
  • Implement lesson plans according to the Lead Teachers guidance and the divisions curriculum requirements.
  • Assist with differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Support classroom discipline to maintain a safe positive and productive learning environment.
  • Assist in providing classroom instruction including small groups and addressing student challenges in collaboration with the Lead Teacher.
  • Maintain an active presence with students by attending and participating in school chapels assemblies athletic events duty assignments
  • Embrace and model servant leadership.
  • Overtly support and uphold the mission and vision of LCA and the Spanish Immersion program.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
  • Must be a native Spanish speaker and biliterate in Spanish and English

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

Hold a BA or BS degree from an accredited postsecondary institution; three or more years related experience and/or training.

Language Ability:

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules handbooks and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of students and staff.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully an individual should demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy. Basic proficiency is needed in word processing e-mailing accessing the Internet school management software and curriculum mapping software;

  • possess evidence of competence in area of instruction or other adequate preparation background or experience as determined by the school administrator;
  • have a working knowledge of and follow LCAs Employee Handbook Parent & Student Handbook.
  • sign and live by the schools Lifestyle Statement and Moral Integrity Statement as a condition for employment and continued employment in this ministry;
  • maintain confidentiality in the operation of the classroom and the school;
  • refrain from unwholesome talk including profanity slang (language widely used and accepted but not appropriate for godliness) or jokes that may be offensive;
  • place his/her school ministry ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities; and
  • maintain a personal appearance that models cleanliness modesty and good taste consistent with school policy.
