Job Description
The Great Basin College (GBC) Career and Technical Education Department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diesel Technology Instructor to expand and enhance our existing program to our Winnemucca Center. This is a full-time year-round (A-contract) non-tenure position based in Winnemucca Nevada with occasional travel within GBCs service area.
This instructor position is to work with an established Diesel Technology program strongly supported by local industry. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses in shop practices diesel engines electronics transmissions hydraulics and more. The individual will contribute to curriculum development and delivery in cooperation with existing diesel faculty based on emerging technologies industry need and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
Develop and teach all aspects of heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
Design and implement a hybrid learning model blending online instruction with on-site lab experiences.
Utilize Canvas (LMS) to deliver course content assessments and student engagement.
Participate in diesel program advisory board meetings to ensure alignment with industry needs.
Provide academic advising and mentorship to students in the Diesel Technology program.
Develop and continuously update curriculum to meet current industry standards.
Attend and contribute to Faculty Senate and college committees as assigned.
Maintain active industry connections and participate in professional development opportunities.
May be required to teach evening or distance education courses.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Graduate of a certified Diesel trade school.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in diesel mining-related equipment repair & maintenance or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates degree or higher in Diesel Technology or a related field.
ASE Master Certification as a Medium/Heavy Truck Technician.
Teaching experience in a community college or technical education setting.
Experience with online learning platforms particularly Canvas (LMS).
Familiarity with distance education and hybrid instructional methods.
Travel
The position may require driving to other GBC campuses with or without reasonable accommodation as per the Americans with Disabilities Act with possible overnight stays to coordinate students and programs throughout the service area. There must be a commitment to the GBC mission to serve rural Nevada. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in several state-wide or national meetings each year that require overnight travel.
Compensation Grade
Academic Faculty 1
This is a 12 month A contract position 12 month contracts are used for year round programs.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $60000 - $85000
Salary is based on relatable education and experience internal equity and budgets.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employees spouse or domestic partner.

Newly hired faculty must assure that their official transcripts are sent by the degree granting institution(s) to Great Basin College Human Resources Office within 30 days from the effective date of employment. Regionally accredited institutions must have awarded academic degrees.
