The Shop Foreman plays a critical role in optimizing our shop operations by maintaining workflow and efficiently distributing work among technicians. Working closely with the Operations Manager this position oversees the quality of work on customer-owned inventory ensures shop efficiency and upholds our high standards for safety and organization.
Responsibilities:
- Workflow & Team Management:
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to establish daily and weekly refurbishment and assembly goals.
- Distribute work orders to technicians ensuring accurate completion through auditing paperwork and cross-referencing with physical parts.
- Manage individual technician workload and overall service area workflow to ensure proper team support and utilization.
- Proactively communicate team work schedule adherence and any issues to the Operations Manager.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to enhance team performance.
- Operational Oversight & Guidance:
- Provide guidance to employees on operational matters including processes company policies guidelines and expectations.
- Conduct weekly Safety meetings with the team and provide documentation to appropriate personnel.
- Make recommendations to the Operations Manager for improvements or changes in day-to-day operations.
- Distribute shop housekeeping tasks among technicians promoting high standards of safety cleanliness and organization.
- Inventory & Logistics:
- Manage refurbishment processes within the company CRM system ensuring dashboards (refurbishment return issue reporting) are correctly updated and maintained.
- Guarantee proper systematic workflow and transactions in NetSuite for both customer and company inventory (new & refurbished).
- Coordinate logistics and scheduling with 3rd party delivery service companies for timely pickups and deliveries ensuring proper execution documentation and storage of invoices.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to identify weekly inventory count focus for all product lines.
- Support & Compliance:
- Assist the Operations Manager and Sales team with customer-related issues (e.g. work orders incorrect part numbers deliveries for customers and distribution centers).
- Ensure continuous compliance with safety policies EHS guidelines and procedures.
- Manage and maintain shop supplies to ensure the team is properly equipped.
- Responsible for the maintenance of all shop equipment (e.g. sandblaster torque machine cutter insert machine snow plow if applicable).
- Perform other general duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of related work experience preferably in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- 2 years of previous supervisory experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead coach and mentor within a team environment.
- Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and internet functions.
- Valid Drivers License with an acceptable driving record (2 or fewer moving violations in the past 3 years and no DWI/DUI in the past 5 years).
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible hours including overtime weekends and holidays as required.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Preferred:
- Forklift and telehandler experience.
- General computer and math skills.
- Familiarity with CRM and NetSuite systems.
