This is your opportunity to be part of Caminos Polaris Team. The Polaris team has been providing treatment case management and support to families with children aged 512 years old but up until now this has not included direct support for the caregivers. In this role you will provide services directly to the caregivers meeting them in their homes and various community settings and collaborating with them to assess their needs and plan the support and treatment they need to thrive.

You will also have the unique opportunity to be actively involved in the development and evaluation of this new program which also includes group and individual therapy provided by Caminos clinical counselling team.

WHATS THE OPPORTUNITY

As an Adult Mental Health Worker you will support Adults with Children within the Polaris program by coordinating and providing their treatment.

This work isnt easy in this portfolio of work we support families at the extreme end of the range in childrens mental health. We are looking for a hands-on practitioner and relationship builder who wants to join our talented multi-disciplinary team and make a positive impact in the lives of families with children who are experiencing significant mental health challenges.

In this role you will be applying your skills and knowledge in home and community-based settings that can occasionally require you to drive clients in your vehicle to things like school or appointments. We are searching for someone who ideally has done some residential work or has lived experience in challenging home-based settings.

WHAT YOULL BE DOING:

• Provide support and treatment to adults individually and in groups using a trauma informed motivational interviewing approach and with stage matched interventions
• Participate and contribute to the comprehensive assessment of caregivers needs and desires
• Assess the mental health and addiction needs of the adult family members
• Coordinate the services offered to adult family members
• Advise and support adult family members as they navigate the adult mental health and addictions systems
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of and connections to the local adult mental health and addictions treatment system

WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR:

• Diploma or degree in social work social service work or a related discipline

• Experience providing support and/or treatment to adults with significant mental health/trauma/addiction challenges

ARE THERE BONUS POINTS

• Knowledge of attachment based developmental trauma
• Knowledge of adult psychiatric assessment and treatment systems
• Experience working in partnership with families with children experiencing mental health challenges
• Experience in motivational interviewing and staged matched interventions
• Knowledge of the local adult mental health and addictions systems ideally with existing personal connections within these systems
• Knowledge of childhood and adolescent development and childrens mental health

ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW:

• This is a full-time permanent role that requires some evening and weekend work.
• This position will take place in client homes community settings and in the office with frequent travel throughout the Waterloo Region.
• Must have a valid drivers license access to a reliable vehicle and applicable auto insurance
• Satisfactory police record check for vulnerable sector
• Must be able to provide either proof of vaccination or documentation providing a satisfactory reason under the Ontario Human Rights Code for not being vaccinated.
• This role is a Practicing Professional 2 Programs and Services (PS4) and the hourly rate for this position is $26.33-$36.74
• Full-time employees start at 3 weeks vacation (prorated based on start date) and are eligible to participate in Caminos benefits and RRSP matching program after three months of service.
