EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Front Desk Clerk Full-Time Temporary

Makola Housing Society

Duncan BC Ts-i-ts-uwatul Lelum

Position Summary

The Front Desk Clerk will report to the Assisted Living Manager and manage the reception area while providing a warm and friendly environment for all residents guests and employees. The Front Desk Clerk will be responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks while supporting the front desk.

The Temporary Front Desk Clerk is compensated at $24.80 per hour. Shifts are Tuesday and Wednesday 8:00am to 4:00pm and Thursday to Saturday 4:00pm to 12:00am. This is a temporary full-time position for a 12-month period or until the original incumbent returns.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome all incoming guests and residents and address inquiries
  • Answering the telephone transferring calls booking visits and vendor appointments and taking messages for all departments
  • Responding to staff calling in sick and scheduling replacement personnel
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all documentation assigned or requiredin the course of duties including documenting in the communication log and incident reports
  • Ensure the safety of the building and residents by completing all safety checks documenting in writing all incidents responding to resident medical pendant alerts administer First Aid to residents and staff when needed and lead all building emergencies including evacuating the building
  • Operate cash machine
  • Supporting the delivery of recreation evening activities as required which can include set up for evening activities
  • Complete cleaning duties including but not limited to washing windows vacuum furniture & floors dusting and bathrooms
  • Maintain resident and staff confidentiality



Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Courses or training in customer service office systems and procedures
  • 1-2 years of experience working in hospitality preferably in a congregate/assisted living setting
  • Experience working in and with the Indigenous communities and Indigenous people is an asset
  • Courses required and paid for by Makola:
    • Occupational Level 1
    • First Aid Level 1 Certificate
    • Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
    • WHMIS Certificate

  • Willing to participate in personal and professional development
  • Follow Makola Housing Society and Assisted Living policies and procedures
  • Provide a clear criminal record check
