You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Health and Safety Coordinator will work in collaboration with all City departments and employee groups to foster a culture of safety and support supervisory and managerial staff on coordination and implementation of a robust health and safety program. Under the direction of the management team the Health and Safety Coordinator will analyze operating procedures materials and equipment conditions at work sites to determine risks of injuries and occupational disease. Responsibilities also include assisting management to develop and implement measures for controlling workplace hazards and limiting loss and liability for City.
In partnership with the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) the incumbent is responsible for monitoring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations legislation and employment standards and all City policies programs and procedures related to occupational health and safety.
This position is required to anticipate recognize evaluate and assist in the development of practical controls for safety hazards and compliance.
Qualifications :
REQUIRED EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate will require a valid BC (Class 5) drivers license. For new hires and those working in designated positions of trust including those working directly with vulnerable persons employment is conditional on a satisfactory police information check.

This position involves moderately physical work. Sufficient physical strength stamina and coordination are required. This position requires 35 hours of in-person work per week.
Additional Information :
This position is within the union bargaining unit with a pay rate of $34.98 per hour (2025 rate).
