Medical Director - Addiction Medicine
- Location: Based in Los Angeles or Orange County; will oversee multiple site locations.
- Work Arrangement: Some remote flexibility though this is NOT a fully remote position.
- Compensation: $300000 $330000 depending on experience.
- Schedule: Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities:
- Primarily an administrative position with approximately 80% administrative and 20% clinical responsibilities.
- Provide leadership and oversight to Associate Medical Directors across multiple programs.
- Serve as liaison between behavioral health and primary care guiding medical treatment for Substance Use and Addictive Disorders.
- Lead integration of behavioral health addiction services and medical care systems.
- Develop and manage policies for the delivery of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
- Oversee medical care in residential facilities ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
- Build and sustain addiction medicine infrastructure across all treatment sites.
- Deliver MAT directly and consult with primary care teams to support MAT patients.
- Coordinate care transitions between behavioral health primary care and mental health services.
- Conduct screenings for MAT eligibility and link patients to appropriate care.
- Educate providers on MAT through trainings and updates
- Support residential and outpatient staff with medical guidance and complex case consultation.
- Help triage patients to reduce unnecessary ER visits and respond to acute medical issues.
- Provide medical support in detox programs and assist in policy development with program directors.
Education and Experience:
- Education Certification and Experience Requirements:
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited U.S. medical school.
- Completion of an accredited U.S. internship and residency program.
- Minimum 35 years of experience as a licensed primary care physician or addiction medicine specialist.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory and/or leadership role.
- Board certification or registration in Addiction Medicine is required; candidates without certification must have significant experience in addiction medicine and be actively pursuing certification.
- Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine is preferred but not required.
- Valid unrestricted California medical license.
- Eligible for CMS Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement.
- Active DEA license with X waiver to prescribe buprenorphine.
