ERG is seeking a Forklift Maintenance Mechanic to assist with facilities projects for a Department of Defense (DoD) client. The Forklift Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for performing routine maintenance on forklifts and other maintenance support vehicles (e.g. bobcats manlifts) and other assigned tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude the ability to troubleshoot and repair issues and the ability to work independently while ensuring a safe efficient and functional environment for all building occupants. The position is based out of a federal site in Indian Head Maryland.
Job Description
- Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Coordinate with other team members and departments to ensure vehicles remain operational and functional.
- Assist with emergency repairs and respond to urgent situations as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years of experience as a forklift technician or heavy equipment mechanic
- Strong knowledge of forklift systems including hydraulics electrical fuel and mechanical systems
- Certified Forklift Technician (CFT) Certified Forklift Associate (CFA) Industrial Hydraulic Technician (IHT) Industrial Hydraulic Mechanic (IHM) or comparable experience preferred
- Familiarity with state and local building codes OSHA regulations and NFPA standards a plus
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance; Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations
- Preferred Basic Tradesmans experience or knowledge in the following skill sets: Carpentry Flooring Drywall finishing Roofing Concrete/Masonry basic electrical basic plumbing
- This position will require a pre-employment physical exam
- This position requires lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds
- Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes dust heat ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
- Must be able to stand walk push pull squat bend and reach during shifts
- Must be able to use carts dollies hand trucks and other gear to move furniture and other items
- Must be able to go up and down stairs and ladders (where applicable)
$75000 - $105000 a year
