Commercial Insurance Producer: Job Description

A Commercial Insurance Producer is a sales professional responsible for generating new business and managing existing client relationships within the commercial insurance sector. This role involves assessing clients insurance needs recommending appropriate coverage and ensuring client satisfaction to maintain and grow the agencys book of business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospecting and Lead Generation: Identify and pursue potential clients through various channels including cold calling networking referrals and industry events.

  • Needs Assessment and Risk Analysis: Conduct thorough evaluations of clients businesses to understand their unique insurance requirements and identify potential risks.

  • Insurance Proposal Development: Design and present tailored insurance solutions that address clients specific needs and risk exposures.

  • Negotiation and Closing: Negotiate terms conditions and pricing with insurance carriers to secure the most advantageous coverage for clients.

  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with clients providing ongoing support and addressing any inquiries or concerns.

  • Policy Renewal and Retention: Review and update clients policies regularly to ensure coverage remains aligned with their evolving needs aiming to retain clients at each renewal.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: A high school diploma is the minimum requirement; however a bachelors degree in business finance or a related field is often preferred.

  • Licensing: Completion of state-required insurance producer licensing courses and passing the licensing exam are mandatory.

  • Experience: Prior experience in commercial insurance sales or a related field is highly desirable.

  • Sales Skills: Strong sales abilities including prospecting negotiation and closing skills are essential.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients and insurance carriers.

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess clients needs and risks to recommend appropriate insurance solutions.

  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple clients and policies efficiently.
