Role Overview

The Head of Accident & Health will lead the strategic direction underwriting and operational execution of the Accident & Health business in the Eastern Region. This executive will be responsible for driving profitable growth expanding market share and developing innovative solutions for corporate clients SMEs and individual customers.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in A&H insurance including Group Personal Accident (GPA) Business Travel Accident (BTA) Supplemental Health and Travel & Accident Insurance. The manager will demonstrate a deep understanding of regional regulatory environments underwriting strategies distribution networks maintain and fostering existing partnerships with a proven track record of leadership in international insurance markets.

Reporting To: Straight line to the Eastern REO and dotted line to the Head of A&H EMEA and as far as A&H consumer is concerned a dotted line to the Head of Consumer Germanics.

Your responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Growth

  • Develop and execute Eastern Region A&H growth strategy to drive growth in both Corporate and Consumer segments aligned with the companys broader EMEA business objectives.
  • Expand distribution channels including brokers bancassurance affinity partnerships and digital platforms.
  • Identify market trends and opportunities for product innovation and enhancement leveraging insights from accident & health trends employer needs and evolving regulatory landscapes.

Underwriting & Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the underwriting framework for A&H products ensuring sustainable risk selection and pricing discipline.
  • Implement data-driven portfolio management strategies to optimize profitability and customer retention.
  • Enhance product customization by developing modular and digital-first A&H offerings.
  • Establish robust reinsurance strategies to manage capital efficiency and mitigate risk exposure.

Operational & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure full compliance with EMEA regulatory requirements including GDPR Solvency II and local market-specific regulations.
  • Work closely with actuarial compliance and legal teams to maintain product integrity and governance.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives to improve underwriting automation claims processing and customer experience.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and lead a high-performing A&H team across the Eastern Region.
  • Foster a culture of innovation collaboration and customer-centricity within the team.
  • Act as the companys A&H ambassador with major brokers corporate clients consumer clients and strategic partners.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences regulatory panels and thought leadership forums.



Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 10 years of experience in Accident & Health insurance with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong expertise in business development account management and underwriting across GPA BTA Supplemental Health and Travel & Accident segments.
  • Proven track record of profitably growing an A&H portfolio in the Eastern Region.
  • Experience managing teams with a strong executive presence and leadership capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of risk selection actuarial pricing and regulatory frameworks within the insurance market.
  • Exposure to insurtech innovations digital ecosystems and AI-driven underwriting models is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic Visionary: Ability to translate market trends into a sustainable and profitable A&H business model.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong business development skills with experience in securing large-scale partnerships.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Deep knowledge of Eastern Region insurance regulations and compliance best practices.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to influence C-suite executives brokers regulators and external partners.
  • Operational Excellence: Strong execution mindset with expertise in digital transformation and process optimization.
  • Leadership & People Development: Track record of mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
  • Multilingual Skills (preferred): English required; proficiency German.
