The Department of Neurology Epilepsy Divisionat the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for a highly qualified postdoctoral fellow for research focusing on the molecular and cellular mechanisms causing malformations of brain development associated with epilepsy and autism. Specifically we are interested in new gene discovery establishing in vitro and in vivo models and designing new approaches for possible therapies. The emphasis of the lab is on the mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway and its role in development of the cerebral cortex. We areparticularly interested in applicants withexperience in CRISPR design mouse models systems cell signaling assays such as Western andkinase assays and genomic analysis of human brain tissue specimens.

We are looking for a highly motivated and career-oriented research individual with a PhD in neuroscience or a neuroscience related field. Specifically the applicant should have experience and skills in Western assay polymerase chain reaction (PCR) recombinant DNA manipulation CRISPRcell transfection cell cultureimmunohistochemistry and fluorescencemicroscopy. Experience with transgenic and knockout mouse systems is desirable.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and in collaboration with other investigators are necessary.
