Job Description

Department: Office of the Clerk

SUMMARY

This position has the responsibility to produce The Mother Churchs online Wednesday testimony meeting every week. This includes both technical and content oversight and production. The Producer works with the Assistant Producer and Moderators (additional editors) to review and edit online testimony submissions for broadcast during the online Wednesday testimony meeting. The Producer is responsible for careful selection and editing of testimonies of healing to be read on air taking into account their metaphysical soundness and appropriateness. The Producer is then responsible for producing the meeting with the Broadcast and Multimedia Production Services (BMPS) team in the studio communicating with the First Reader Testimony Readers Assistant Producer and Moderator. The work also involves corresponding with testifiers for clarification and/or editing purposes. This work begins Tuesday afternoon and continues after the Wednesday meeting as follow up is required. Quality and excellence both technically and spiritually confidence in good and a joy in demonstration of Christian Science are all part of this important position. The Producer is also responsible for managing the monthly sign up of Moderators and may have occasional or ongoing projects to improve processes and communication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Producer for Wednesday Online Testimony Meeting

  • Gives specific metaphysical attention and support of each meeting.
  • Coordinates with the sound technician to enable communication with Readers and manages the technology production of the broadcast.
  • Reviews testimony submissions in collaboration with the Assistant Producer Clerks EA Moderators and Readers (which may include consultation with the Office of the General Counsel and/or Committee on Publication). Is responsible for the metaphysical soundness and appropriateness of testimony content through careful selection and editing.
  • Communicates with testifiers when clarification is needed or when a testimony is not selected to be read on air.
  • Trains new Moderators and Substitute Producers.

Has contact with Clerks EA Assistant Producer Manager of Church Services and Local Activities Moderators TMC Readers and testimony readers testifiers Office of the General Council (OGC) and the Committee on Publication (CoP) and Broadcast and Multimedia Production Services (BMPS) employees.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Technology Skills

Proficient in Google Suite and Slack.

Knowledge and Skills

Proofreading and editing (both for grammar and the ability to be read aloud in a comprehensible way); ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Team management skills. Metaphysical poise and clarity.

Work Environment

Publishing House recording studios. This work will include holidays although it also allows for appropriate time off and some flexibility.

Christian Science Information

Mother Church membership and Primary class instruction are required. Solid understanding of the Church Manualin particular Art. VIII Sect. 24.

In compliance with federal law all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
