Job Description

Overview

CHI Health Schuyler opened its doors on October 11 1953 serving the communities of Schuyler Clarkson Howells Leigh and the residents of rural Colfax County in Nebraska. In addition to its 25 critical access beds CHI Health Schuyler offers a wide variety of services to residentschildren teens adults senior citizens friends and neighbors. Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

Provide a clean safe and friendly environment for patients visitors and all staff in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Uses and discloses patient protected health information: 1) Only as it applies to job functions 2) in amounts minimally necessary for intended purpose and 3) in a confidential manner.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Cleans and disinfects patient ancillary and public areas as assigned daily following established procedures.
  2. Operates manual battery-powered and electric equipment such as mechanical floor cleaners and vacuums. Maintains and stores all equipment in a safe sanitary manner.
  3. Collects handles and disposes of designated waste streams and soiled linens in the prescribed manner.
  4. Completes stat and routine discharge room cleans.
  5. Adheres to all hospital required Safety Risk Management and Infection Control practices
  6. Identifies and reports work orders for maintenance/refurbishing needs.
  7. Inspects EVS equipment for cleanliness and need for repair.
  8. Provides support with the training and orientation of new employees.
  9. Greets and directs visitors patients and staff. Provide assistance as needed.
  10. Attends all meetings and training sessions as required.
  11. Completes all mandatory education requirements.
  12. Follows established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  13. Initiates and promotes quality improvement seeking to meet customer requirements and cost efficiency.
  14. On occasion may perform duties of Linen Tech.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required Education for Staff Job Levels

  • High school or GED preferred
  • Basic reading and writing skills required in order to understand and use chemical labels SDS sheets OSHA standards isolation procedures written instructions and departmental policies.

Required Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively and courteously with supervisors visitors and staff in order to promote good relationships and assist in training other employees.
  • Customer Service Driven

Professionalism/Growth

  • Maintain skills/competencies required for the position.
  • Accesses opportunities for continuing education.
  • Attend educational programs/in-services.
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times.

PREFERRED Qualifications

  • One year healthcare/cleaning experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills preferred.
