Your Impact.

As a Senior Accountant you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records analyzing complex financial data and providing strategic insights to drive decision-making. Your contributions will directly influence the organizations financial health compliance and operational efficiency helping us to deliver exceptional service and value to our clients.

Key Responsibilities.

Financial Reporting:

  • Owning month-end close processes like posting/reviewing journal entries reconciling balance sheet accounts preparing monthly financial statements and other accounting/finance responsibilities.

  • Contribute to the preparation of regulatory filings including NAIC reports and statutory financial statements.

  • Research analyze and document complex technical accounting issues ensuring consistent application of accounting standards across the organization.

  • Analyzing expenses and their drivers; preparing monthly accruals and accurately reporting on variances vs prior months and vs budgets.

  • Align accounting processes working with all corporate accounting teams such as accounts payable treasury payroll and FP&A

General Ledger and Reconciliation:

  • Maintain the general ledger and reconcile accounts related to insurance operations such as premiums claims commissions and reserves.

  • Conduct variance analysis on financial statement activity and resolve discrepancies.

Special Projects:

  • Assisting the corporate finance team with other projects including monthly consolidations and year-end financial statement audits.

  • Approve vendor bills and expense reports to ensure they are recorded accurately and in accordance with budget

  • Additional ad-hoc projects as needed

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal state and local regulations impacting the insurance industry.

  • Assist with preparation for audits and regulatory examinations.

Internal Controls and Process Improvement:

  • Develop implement and monitor policies and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate current accounting practices and make recommendations for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and accounting operations.

Your Experience.

  • Education:Bachelors Degree in Accounting (preferred) or Finance.

  • Experience:3 years of progressive accounting experience ideally combining a foundation in a top-tier national public accounting firm with relevant industry experience. Experience auditing or working in an insurance industry is a plus.

  • Technical Proficiency:Good understanding of GAAP with the ability to apply accounting principles to complex transactions.

  • Analytical Acumen:Excellent problem-solving analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret and analyze financial data.

  • Communication & Collaboration:Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Organizational Prowess:Ability to manage multiple priorities meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and data integrity. in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ownership & Initiative:Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently.

  • Software Skills:Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with NetSuite and Workday a plus

Work Environment: This role requires 5-10% travel.
