Job Description

Overview

As our Certified Pharmacy Tech at St. Johns Regionalnow part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health youll help our patients feel better by providing safe and effective medications to them. Youll help our doctors and nurses feel better knowing that you are providing accurate and timely medication to patients.

Youll build trust each day by being extremely thorough and accurate at all times. Patient safety is your top priority so you do everything you can to ensure all prescriptions are authentic prepared correctly both in medication type and dosing and are dispensed appropriately under the Pharmacists guidance. You follow all safety protocols including those intended to prevent infection and you keep a clean work area at all times. You are eager to learn or help out in any way needed to keep the pharmacy running smoothly and get our patients their medications.

Responsibilities

  • California Certified Pharmacy Technician.
  • Accurate preparation of IV solutions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Extreme accuracy must rule general principles of sterility and dosing associated with compounding of all IVs.
  • Calculations must be double-checked on all dosing calculations.
  • STAT requests must be given priority.

Qualifications

  • One (1) year previous hospital pharmacy or infusion center experience required or formal pharmacy tech school with certification.
  • Strong math skills. High School graduate.
  • IV certification by a qualified institution.
  • California Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • Current California drivers license with proof of insurance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing using the English language.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to follow both oral and written directions.
  • Ability to be precise in filling medication orders and maintaining records.
  • Ability to work tactfully and effectively with team members the patient and family members and the public.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
