Job Description

Carpenter (Temporary)

In this role you will use your expertise in construction repair and maintenance to ensure classrooms offices and common areas meet the highest standards of safety and quality. From building custom furniture to repairing structural elements your work will directly contribute to the success and well-being of our school community.

Are you a skilled carpenter passionate about creating safe functional and inspiring environments for students and staff Join our school district as a Carpenter and become an integral part of maintaining and improving our educational facilities.

Assignment: Temporary - primarily day shift with occasional afternoon shift based on operational needs. Hours are 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM Monday-Friday.

Wage: $36.78 per/hr. plus 10.8% in lieu of vacation and statutory holidays.

Work Summary

Constructs installs repairs and maintains buildings furnishings equipment and carpentry-related grounds projects.

Performs all carpenter duties and works in related areas such as concrete millwork glass replacement drywall and floor coverings.

Designs projects reads and interprets drawings and specifications and prepares cost estimates.

Directs assists and liaises with employees contractors regulatory agencies and other trades as required.

May on occasion be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

Your Education and Experience

  • Successful completion of an approved Apprenticeship Program and a valid Red Seal InterprovincialCarpenter certification.
  • Two years related experience at the journeyman level
  • Physical capability to perform the job duties.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Drivers License.
  • Competent in the use and care of tools and equipment common to this trade.
  • High School graduation or the equivalent.
