The Houston studio of SWA is seeking a Landscape Architect with 2-4 years of professional experience. This role is specifically focused on the planning design and implementation of master planned communities from conceptual design through documentation and construction administration. Proven experience working on large-scale residential communities is strongly desired.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping some of the regions most impactful community developments working closely with developers engineers and our internal design team to create thoughtful sustainable and memorable environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with staff to develop and execute design concepts for a variety of projects within master planned communities.
- Prepare and review detailed site plans planting plans hardscape designs grading and construction documents.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including architects engineers developers irrigation consultants and contractors.
- Assist in project management duties including client presentations proposal development and schedule tracking.
- Prepare high-quality graphics renderings and visual presentations using industry-standard software.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes standards and local ordinances.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.
- 24 years of professional experience in landscape architecture preferably in a design firm or multidisciplinary setting.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and documentation of planned community amenities including streetscapes native and well-adapted planting pedestrian trails monuments parks and recreation centers is highly desirable.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop InDesign Illustrator) and SketchUp. Experience with Lumion Rhino and D5 is a plus.
- Knowledge of planting design site grading and construction detailing.
- Strong graphic verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a collaborative team environment.
- Licensure or progress toward landscape architecture licensure is preferred but not required.
