Job Description

Job Summary: The Continuous Improvement Supervisor will be responsible for leading the organizations lean philosophies to be more effectively and profitably create value for all entities involved. This value should be provided in the fastest manner at the highest quality with the lowest cost possible.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Develop and continuously refine the Lean Enterprise implementation plan throughout the organization.
  • Initiate & maintain an effective 5S program. Own this program as a foundational program for all lean improvement activities.
  • Measure and document progress towards meeting objectives related to lean processes and programs
  • Provide needed oversight and training in the area of Lean Enterprise Philosophy tools and techniques and continuous improvement practices
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities and long-term improvement opportunities
  • Participate in the organizations strategic and annual planning processes
  • Propose plan for and manage Kaizen events

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the implementation of Lean throughout the organization.
  • Train owners and help facilitate a variety of kaizens and other improvement activities which are aimed at removing non-value-added activities therefore reducing costs improving delivery and building customer satisfaction.
  • Manage all assigned projects such that completion is accomplished on time and within budget with the agreed-to objectives of the project fully met.
  • Write and distribute timely status reports that update management regarding all Lean activities and status.
  • Assist departments through measuring and monitoring of production activities data analysis trend identification and establishment of projects that drive continuous improvement.
  • Participate in the Strategic Planning process by establishing goals and objectives for lean implementation and cost reduction projects supporting the objectives of the company.
  • Build strong and positive working relationships with all areas of the company by working to include them in the improvement activities making sure their needs and requirements are carefully considered.
  • Be of service to all departments by managing projects toward completion by utilizing support resources as efficiently and effectively as possible on their projects when required.
  • Do whatever else one can to advance toward the goal of being a world-class operation that effectively supports the vision of the organization.
  • While meeting the above responsibilities continue to learn and develop oneself for more responsibility and greater accomplishments
  • Reviews process to eliminate or mitigate defects using poka-yoke / jigs and fixtures.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: A four-year degree (preferred) or a related field or the equivalent as evidenced by a combination of formal education/training and experience. Six Sigma Certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years relative experience in a manufacturing environment with supervisory and Lean implementation experience. Minimum of five (5) years experience in the following: Lean Implementation & Metrics tracking.
  • Skills: Ability to effectively manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously planning and scheduling work activities to routinely meet cost and schedule parameters. Ability to analyze complex situations involving diverse data and information such that common causes and threads of similarity are identified for appropriate action. Ability to work effectively with all departments as well as customers and suppliers to accomplish objectives with positive outcomes for all involved.
  • Other: Individual must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time efficiently. Individual should be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of products and the application of technology in manufacturing environments. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of Lean including but not limited to Value Stream Management Voice of the Customer Kaizen leadership one-piece flow SMED pull systems and 5S. Ability to learn new concepts and effectively pass this knowledge on to others through classroom training or the design of practical experiences and exercises. Individual must possess the ability to manage details be able to work effectively as an individual contributor and possess solid interpersonal relationship and communications skills. Individual must be able to understand complex documents and ideas and effectively communicate these ideas to employees at all levels of the company.
