We are currently seeking a Manager of Financial Reporting to lead the preparation of financial statements Managements Discussion and Analysis and other key financial documents ensuring accuracy and timeliness in our reporting processes.
Job Description:
As the Manager of Financial Reporting you will be responsible for the preparation of our companys financial statements Managements Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) accounting research and technical documentation including impairment assessments and memos. You will play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting supporting compliance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and contributing to process improvements.
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements ensuring compliance with ASPE and internal reporting guidelines.
- Draft Managements Discussion and Analysis summarizing key financial metrics trends and business performance drivers.
- Compile monthly financial reporting and analysis for the Board of Directors and Ownership ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Lead the month-end close process ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Oversee the preparation of audit-ready financial documents coordinating with external auditors and internal stakeholders to facilitate a smooth and efficient audit process.
- Prepare impairment memos by gathering and analyzing relevant data collaborating with operations teams and supporting external audit requirements.
- Conduct accounting research and provide recommendations on complex financial reporting issues ensuring alignment with evolving standards.
- Assist in developing policy and process documentation working with business leaders to ensure practical implementation.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process by compiling data analyzing variances and assisting with monthly budget-to-actual comparisons.
- Enhance internal reporting processes by improving data accuracy timeliness and accessibility for management decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary financial data and ensure consistency in reporting and reconciliations.
- Contribute to the professional development of finance team members by sharing knowledge supporting training initiatives and fostering a strong financial reporting function.
- Supervise mentor and develop finance staff fostering a positive team environment that promotes professional growth and continuous learning.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors or masters degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- Accounting Designation required (CPA; CPA CA).
- Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in financial reporting accounting or auditing with a focus on the preparation and review of financial reporting.
- Possess a good understanding of ASPE with demonstrated knowledge and ability in researching and documenting new accounting guidance and accounting treatment of issues.
- Oracle/Smartview expertise (desirable).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
