The Network Administrator coordinates and executes Information Technology (IT) activities including installation maintenance and monitoring of all networked application servers telecommunication systems video monitoring systems file servers network monitoring systems network hardware wireless infrastructure and data security systems.
1. Monitors networking and telecommunication equipment/servers supported by Network Operations and related staff on a day-to-day basis. Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments including computer/server hardware systems software applications software and all configurations.
2. Resolves issues for end-user community that come through the help desk when related to network connectivity or security. Forwards calls as appropriate to the Manager Network Operations or most appropriate Network Engineer when additional troubleshooting and diagnosis is needed.
3. Designs configures and tests computer hardware networking software and operating system software under the direction of the Manager Network Operations.
4. Maintains all network-related hardware and systems creating documentation and statistical/management reports for these systems as necessary.
5. Installs configures and maintains wireless network equipment. Performs wireless network management and maintains wireless network security according to industry standards and best practices.
6. Works directly with Network Operations leadership and Kennedy Krieger Institute departments to implement organizational goals that support the Institutes Long Range Plan.
7. Installs repairs moves adds and changes existing telecommunications and related equipment.
8. Maintains telephony devices including IP phones digital sets analog devices emergency phones and paging/intercom systems.
9. Collaborates with other departments to install and maintain video monitoring systems (including cameras) and central recording servers around the Institute.
10. Fosters and maintains the highest level of interdepartmental communications in both the user community and within the department in order to ensure successful project completion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification preferred.
EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree in computer science or related field required. Four or more years of related experience beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for the degree requirement at the discretion of the Director Network Operations.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in computer security IP telephony or network trouble resolution required.
Previous experience with IT project management methodology and procedure required.
