MOLLIE ASPEN is a new 68-room boutique hotel that occupies a prime location on Paepcke Park in the heart of Aspen Colorado. Drawing inspiration from the inimitable Mollie Gibson a beloved local figure known for her restless enthusiasm for the outdoors and ability to bring people together the hotel pays homage to her significant contributions to Aspens early social artistic and adventurous fabric.

Designed by award-winning studio Post Company MOLLIEs interiors are subtly inspired by the Aspen tradition of being firmly grounded while gazing abroad - a seamless blend of understated luxury and residential comfort. The property holds a quiet confidence and commitment to a reduction of excess with interiors that thoughtfully utilize native materials from Aspen and the wider Western region accentuated with natural woods earthen ceramics and hand-dyed textiles. MOLLIEs lobby fosters an inviting atmosphere for visitors and locals alike where the eclectic mix of differing personas is celebrated and upheld.

The hotels food & beverage programs consists of a lobby bar and restaurant with year-round outdoor seating and a laid-back all-day caf. Set atop MOLLIEs top floor is a rooftop pool and terrace that transforms into an intimate lounge by night with unobstructed views of Aspen Mountain. MOLLIE Aspen has been developed by HayMax Capital a leading local development firm specializing in Aspen hospitality and residential development.

Job Description:

We are seeking an organized innovative and passionate individual to join our dynamic team as a Barback. This role is pivotal in ensuring our bar operations run seamlessly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will be someone who takes the initiative can work in a fast-paced environment and is keen to grow and learn in the hospitality industry. They will assist with all aspects of FOH including serving food and drinks clearing tables and greeting guests. All Barbacks are expected to embody our core values and connect with guests in a friendly manner.

Pay Rate: $15/hour plus tips

Job Responsibilities:

  • Have a focus on always continuing your education in all facets of our business.
  • Have complete knowledge of the food and beverage items and preparations.
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of modern classic as well as popular cocktails.
  • Know and use the service guidelines outlined in the service manual.
  • Always check in with any staff in your respective space on arrival and see if you can help with anything before beginning your assigned duties.
  • Provide an exceptional guest experience from the moment they walk in the door to the moment they leave.
  • Greet guests warmly genuinely and with a smile and eye contact.
  • Operate as a team member helping others and requesting help as needed. Perform any other restaurant duties as requested by management.
  • Ask for help when you need it. Asking for help is a sign of strength not a sign of weakness.
  • Use heightened awareness on any table with an allergy and be sure to work to code according to our allergy standards.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages only to guests over 21 years of age. Check IDs at every table without exception. Get your manager involved with any questions.
  • Control the amount of alcohol served so guests do not become over-intoxicated.
  • Know the table numbers and position numbers in all sections.
  • Perform table/bar maintenance throughout the shift including crumbing keeping water full clearing & resetting serving ware etc.
  • Maintain a neat and properly organized mise end place throughout your shift.
  • Treat all areas of the restaurant with respect cleanliness and reset to zero when necessary.
  • Make sure the bar is fully stocked on arrival and continuously restocked throughout your shift.
  • Communicate with hosts about how the bar is handling the service flow.
  • Clean and polish glassware and silverware.
  • Ensure that mise trays are consistently stocked.
  • Treat the Bar Lab with the respect it deserves and make sure it is clean and organized throughout the night.
  • Check in with bartenders regularly.
  • Attend mandatory quarterly staff meetings.
  • The employee is responsible for forgetting a shift covered if they cannot report to a scheduled shift (apart from sick reasons). If they cannot report to a shift and have exhausted all options for coverage they must contact their supervisor to problem-solve no less than 8 hours prior to their scheduled time.
  • Always act in a professional manner and represent MOLLIE Aspen whether you are in-house traveling or at another local food and beverage establishment.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent guest service and problem-resolution skills.
  • Understanding of Point of Sale (POS) systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends evenings and holidays.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires standing for extended periods walking pushing lifting to 25 pounds bending and reaching.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with other departments such as front-of-house staff and management to create a seamless and exceptional dining experience.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of work experience in hospitality
  • The ability to move lift carry push pull and place objects that weigh 25 pounds or less without aid is required. Assistance will be necessary for objects weighing over 50 pounds.
