Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in City of Westminster to assist with the appointment of a Building and Fire Safety Project Manager on a 2.5-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 325.44 - 448.00 per day

Summary:

Westminster City Council (WCC) is seeking a knowledgeable and driven Building and Fire Safety Project Manager to lead and coordinate safety compliance projects across its diverse property portfolio. This hybrid role involves remote working and frequent site visits focusing on ensuring all buildings meet the latest safety regulations including compliance with the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of safety-focused projects manage stakeholder relationships and maintain comprehensive records to support the councils commitment to safety and regulatory excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and manage end-to-end building and fire safety projects across the councils housing and public building stock.
  • Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act Fire Safety Act and all relevant housing and safety regulations.
  • Lead on risk identification mitigation and reporting for fire and building safety hazards.
  • Coordinate inspections remedial actions and maintain robust documentation and compliance records.
  • Engage and oversee consultants contractors and fire safety professionals to deliver timely and compliant safety improvements.

Requirements:

  • Professional membership with a recognised body such as:CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) IFE (Institution of Fire Engineers)RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) equivalent
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) in fire safety and building compliance
  • Extensive experience managing building and fire safety projects particularly in residential and public sector contexts.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation and statutory responsibilities (e.g. Fire Safety Act Building Safety Act Housing Health and Safety Rating System).
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technical documentation such as fire strategies safety case reports and risk assessments.
