The Intermediate Accountant is a corporate accounting role this roleis located at our head office in Ottawa.The successful candidate will participate in the analysis of financial information preparation of account reconciliations and monthly financial statements ensuring proper internal controls are adhered to and participating in developing or enhancing accounting processes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare financial analysis and account reconciliations (banks fixed assets fuel inventory intercompany etc.)
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare supporting data and analysis for inclusion in periodic financial presentations to Senior Management.
- Prepare financial analysis including financial statement account & equipment analysis.
- Record acquisition disposal and transfer for company assets.
- Participate in the development & reporting of internal control procedures (i.e. inventory counts reconciliations purchase order commitments etc.)
- Support annual external financial statement audit (i.e. working papers reconciliations variance analysis other support as requested).
- Prepare responses to statutory government surveys.
- Assist in responding to various government audits (i.e. HST income tax WSIB payroll etc.)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Standard office environment
- Additional hours may be required during the month-end quarter-end or year-end reporting cycles
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Working towards CPA designation is preferred but not required
- University or College degree/diploma in related field
- 2-4 years of related industry and financial experience
- Knowledge of finance accounting and cost control principles
- Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications
- Knowledge of federal and provincialfinancial regulations
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports.
- Work requires willingness to sometimes work a flexible schedule
- Strong attention to detail.
- Highly skilled in MS Excel with a good working knowledge of rest of MS Office (PowerPoint and Word).
- Strong interpersonal/ communication skills with the ability to work effectively with different levels of the organization.
