Job Description
Position Summary:
A Tier 1 automotive supplier producing battery components is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Clean Room Operator to join our growing production team. The ideal candidate would have experience in operating automate equipment production maintenance adjusting tooling and troubleshooting issues to ensure efficient and high-quality fabrication of components. This role will also involve cross-training in our press metal stamping operations and supporting continuous improvement in initiatives such as 5S.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Quality Assurance:
- Perform visual inspections of battery components (case and cover) for defects surface irregularities and manufacturing inconsistencies.
- Utilize microscopes to conduct detailed inspections of critical surfaces and small features.
- Troubleshoot camera-based visual inspection machines to detect non-conformities and validate part quality.
- Follow inspection checklists and quality standards for the battery components.
Cleanroom Operations & Equipment Handling:
- Operate automated packing machines to properly pack and protect components.
- Conduct routine production maintenance and assist with basic troubleshooting of inspection and packing equipment.
- Adhere to cleanroom protocols gowning procedures and contamination control practices at all times.
Shipment Preparation:
- Organize and prepare inspected components for shipment ensuring correct labeling documentation and packaging.
- Verify part counts serial numbers and inspection logs prior to final packing.
- Collaborate with logistics or shipping personnel to ensure timely and accurate dispatch of materials.
- Ability to print and read labels for proper shipping
Documentation & Process Support:
- Accurately document inspection results defect types production quantities and machine logs.
- Support root cause investigations by clearly recording and communicating defects or abnormalities.
- Maintain compliance with SOPs work instructions and safety policies.
- Good documentation practices (ISO 9001)
5S Safety and Continuous Improvement:
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in line with 5S principles.
- Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Uphold strict adherence to safety policies and report any safety hazards immediately.
Cross-Training & Versatility:
- Cross-train and perform assigned duties in the press metal stamping environment as needed.
- Assist with press metal stamping operations assembly or quality checks to support production demands.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or vocational certification preferred.
- 2 years of experience operating in a cleanroom environment or in metal stamping fabrication (preferred).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with basic maintenance tools and techniques.
- Operate sit down forklift and pallet jack (electric and manual)
- Ability to read blueprints work instructions and use measuring tools (e.g. calipers gauges).
- Commitment to safety quality and continuous improvement.
- Willingness to work in cleanroom and non-cleanroom environments.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand bend and lift up to 75lbs. regularly.
- Comfortable working around machinery noise and in a fast-paced production setting.
- May require wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) including cleanroom garments.
