Job Description

Guided by The Oaks Academys core values the Lower School Instructional Coach is an academic leader who is responsible for providing principled non-supervisory data-informed instructional coaching to lower school teachers at both the Brookside and Fall Creek campuses.

Responsibilities include

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with the Heads of School K-2 Directors and assigned lower school teachers
  • Analyze student performance data and observation data to develop and implement individualized instructional coaching plans
  • Adhere to the provided instructional coaching model and accompanying observation and feedback protocols
  • Model lessons and co-plan instruction as outlined in individualized coaching plans
  • Lead and/or co-lead after school professional development meetings
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork among assigned teachers encouraging open communication and sharing of best practices
  • Remain current with research-based instructional strategies making recommendations for implementation as appropriate
  • Complete Oaks-sponsored professional development programs focused on instructional coaching
  • Attend and lead as assigned regularly scheduled professional development meetings

Skills Knowledge and Abilities

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and school leaders
  • Describe the criteria and indicators outlined in The Oaks Academys Teacher Professional Development Tool with the ability to identify the application of each in practice
  • Possess a deep understanding of The Oaks Academys curriculum progression as well as relevant educational standards and regulations (e.g. Indiana State Standards)
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to improve instruction and increase student learning
  • Make principled data-informed decisions
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing utilizing professional language
  • Organize and maintain digital records of meeting agendas data analysis individualized coaching plans and all other required documents associated with coaching cycles

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience as a lead classroom teacher within grades Kindergarten through 6
  • 2 years of experience serving in a school leadership role
  • Formal training in instructional coaching
  • Bachelors degree
  • Valid Indiana Educators license
  • Devout Christian who is a member of associated with or seeking to be associated with a Christ-centered community of faith or a church

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in education
  • 2 years of experience in a formal teacher leadership role at The Oaks Academy
