Head Chef

About us:

Im Dan and Im proud to run the incredible Duke of Wellington on the world-famous Portobello Road!

Our pub features in the opening scenes of the 1999 classic Notting Hill but we established ourselves as an iconic part of the neighbourhood during its construction back in 1854 (just two years after the original Duke passed away!) The pub still retains some of her original features including a 360 bar where tourists from around the world flock from the moment we open our doors and our fireplaces where you might find Notting Hill locals and the occasional celebrity (Adele signed her first contract here!) relaxing with a drink on a winters evening.

These features are not the only thing that defines our lovely pub though as we are constantly building a team of passionate and fun people (like yourself) to do everything from pouring drinks on our outside bar in summer to chatting to people from around the world at the bar to taking orders and bringing food to hungry guests in our Dining Room & Snug or even to hosting a party at our upstairs bar in the gorgeous Peacock Room.

In the kitchen our a team of hard-working & efficient chefs deliver over 200 plates of our renowned fish & chips a week on top of an entire menu made up of freshly-prepared seasonal British ingredients as well as buffets and canapsfor our function guests.

Jack & Alice lead our Front of House team aiming to deliver great service no matter how busy we get. On top of all of this as part of Youngs we are keen to develop our people and help them find the next step if they are keen for a career in hospitality.

What we look for in aHead Chef:

This rolerequires someone that can inspire a team to bring out the potential and leadby example whilst being able to develop cost and produce fresh seasonal menusfor the variety of revenue streams within the business.

  • Have experience championing excellent servicethrough quality food either as a Head Chef or in the position of Sous Chef
  • Demonstrate a passion for leading and developinga team
  • Be an active hands-on team player withexcellent communication skills
  • Be responsible and able to manage the kitchenstaff rota training and all health and safety effectively at all times
  • Be able to demonstrate your creativity andability to design and deliver new dishes for our menus and daily specials
  • Demonstrate great planning and organisationalskills necessary to maintain effective controls with regard to both GP andlabour
  • Have a pro-active approach to driving salesand delivering growth through engagement with both kitchen and front of houseteams
This site has incredible growth potential for food in both reputation and in volume which of course will lead to greater tips and service charge for yourself and the team! Wewould be very happy to discuss a bespoke bonus scheme for a Head Chef looking to drive the business forward after the initial induction period.
