This position prepares and monitors the operating budget for the Power System Management (PSM) department. In addition to preparing the operating budget the Fuel Variance Analyst coordinates collects and evaluates the data provided by the various groups within PSM to prepare monthly variance and forecasts reports and researches any significant variance from the approved budget for the current month and year-to-date results. In addition prepares monthly variance report for reporting to the Budget and Planning department.
The Analyst will process PSM invoices for payment prepares month-end accruals and journal entries and ensures all expenses are correctly recorded in PSEG Long Islands general ledger. Will work with the various PSM groups to ensure all vendor invoices as well as accounting entries are properly coded and purchase orders are properly funded.
The Analyst will assist in facilitating the in-house transition from the financial consultant of the Financial Model that is used for IRP studies repowering studies and other long-range planning.
In addition the Analyst will assist as needed in developing and accurately calculating the monthly Power Supply Charge (PSC) that underpins the collection of approximately $2 billion in annual revenue as well as the 6 and 12 month rolling average PSC values used in the balanced billing program. Accurate calculation is critical in order to ensure the timely recovery of costs while minimizing month tomonth fluctuations in customer bills due to changes in the monthly PSC which is a direct driver of customer satisfaction addition prepares month-end accruals for various F&PP costs and any re-class entries that may be required.
As needed the Analyst will assist in ensuring that all Power Supply Charge invoices accruals and deferrals are correctly recorded in PSEG Long Islands general ledger. Works with various groups (Power Portfolios Accounting etc.) to ensure all vendor invoices as well as accounting entries that impact F&PP are properly coded.
