DESCRIPTION OF WORK

An employee in this job performs and leads inmates in the performance of various tasks in the repair and maintenance of buildings and equipment as well as new construction and renovation projects. Duties will include the cleaning and grounds keeping of facility buildings and surrounding grounds. Work involves the performance of semi-skilled and skilled journey-level work in the various trades such as plumbing electrical and carpentry. Work also includes responsibility and accountability for the custody discipline and security of inmates assigned to the work crew and the efficient accomplishment of work assignments. An employee in this job exercises technical independence in determining work methods and procedures and receives assignments either orally or in writing. Work is reviewed through inspections and upon completion for compliance with established standards and procedures and evaluation of results.
